Hunger Games and other stories
May I say I'm almost through Hunger Games and it's awesome. A very well written story, very entertaining, and with a political message, too. My Probation Officer haha recommended it to me two or three months ago. She must have had a reason. This was over a coffee at Starbucks. May I say, too, that Hunger Games is better than James Patterson's Witch & Wizard. Or Jeremy Shipp's Attic Toys.

I don't subscribe to Twitter, but do use Facebook to express what I want to (to friends--not the world at large).
ReplyDeleteI also use a special page to show and sell the jewelry I make (to the world, should they want to look).
A Facebook page for an author is a good way to get the word out, if you're willing to put in the effort to keep it fresh. If you don't post *something* daily, people will cease to visit your page.
Facebook, because of its social networking nature, can generate exponential contacts and page views. From there, you can invite people to visit your blog.
Blogging is great for detailed information and deeper examination of your particular subject(s). I don't believe it's good as a primary point of contact, though.
Think of it as Yellow Pages ads or someone with a sandwich board outside your business. You can't tell your whole story in a small space (like Facebook or Twitter). However, you can catch someone's eye and lure them in to browse your wares.
If your stuff is good, they'll come back again and again to see what "new stock" you offer.
That's true, Sue. That's what I try to do with my Facebook page and Twitter, also try to promote others. Some are better at promoting than others.
ReplyDeleteI'm noting that there are two subjects on this blog, and I'm sorry. That really shouldn't be the case. One is authors over promoting their books and the other is a critique of Hunger Games and an appeal to young adults to critique their favorite stories. I may break this blog into two sections and appeal to young adults again. This post brought me 56 views yesterday, which is good for this blog. I don't know what interested my readers, though, the post on fashion for young men or the post on authors...my bad. Could anyone help out? What interested you today?
